Naa-Larley Karikari, whom most know as â€˜Naaâ€™, was born on February 19, 1993 in Mississauga Ontario, the youngest girl of four children to Ghanaian parents, Caroline Â and Kwame Karikari.
This summer she has taken on the challenge of competing in a national beauty pageant called Miss Black Beauty Canada 2013.
Naa is an optimistic, friendly 20 year old with a big heart and even bigger dreams. She has strong interests in the arts, music, fashion, modeling and event planning.Â NaaÂ firmly believes that perseverance, hard work, and kindness to others are the keys to lasting success in life.Â Â She also enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family and considers these moments as priceless.
This enthusiastic socialite was elected Social Convenor in her senior year of high school. With the title, Naa found her passion in planning and coordinating events for her peers. She graduated high school receiving both the Academic Excellence in Fashion and the Academic Excellence in Media Award. In her next educational step took place when she was accepted into the University of Guelph-Humber to work towards a Bachelorâ€™s Degree in Media Studies.Â Naa plans to pursue a career in Public Relations with a focus on Event Planning, as she hopes to be instrumental in promoting unity and culture in Toronto.
Naa has held a job since she was 14 years old; she has an extensive retail background and is currently working two jobs working towards her goals/dreams. Naa is currently employed by Browns at the Sherway Gardens Mall, a high-end shoe retailer and is a hostess at the Toronto Congress Centre.
Naa believes in personal and community development and as a natural extension of this, she is a recent volunteering member for the Family and Community Service department of the Salvation Army. She plans to spend her spare time doing charitable work that provides support to societyâ€™s most vulnerable. She firmly believes that making a positive difference in someoneâ€™s life is the greatest reward, and thereby accomplishment a person can have.
This is Naaâ€™s first attempt at pageantry and she has embraced this new challenge as she recognizes what a great opportunity for personal development it is. Miss Black Beauty Canada is a pageant for 25 African and Caribbean girls across Canada between the ages of 18-28 that honours black heritage, beauty, talent & intelligence.
Naa has been chosen to be Contestant #1 and is the only Ghanaian girl competing. She is proud to represent Ghana, and is focusing her energy and enthusiasm to take home the crown on Saturday August 24th at the Isabel Bader Theatre.
