Nigeria has agreed to host the 2014 African Fashion Reception in July to celebrate cultural diversity expressed through the artistic fashion discipline.Chief Edem Duke, Minister of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, confirmed this in Abuja on Tuesday while hosting some members of the World Fashion Organisation led by the Mr Lexy Mojo-Eyes, the founder of Branzuk Gold.
He said the event with the theme, “Africa is the new inspiration of global fashion” which has been slated for July 3rd to July 5th in Abuja would be declared open by President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to him, the Africa Fashion Reception is aimed at building bridges by creating free trade and partnership among fashion practitioners on the African continent.
“To attract global attention to Africa’s very rich and diversified dress culture which can be explored as a catalyst for the social economic growth of the continent’s textile industry,” he said.
Earlier, Mojo-Eyes said that Africa do not need aid from international community but needed assistance to develop and make commercially viable its creative industries to bring meaningful development for wealth creation.
