The Scarborough Afro-Caribbean Festival will be held at the Scarborough Civic Center-Albert Campbell Square on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25, 2013. . Heritage Skills Development Center (HSDC) is organizing this event with the support of the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport. They are offering the entire family a wonderful day filled with food, fun, great music, great performances and the chance to experience the richness of the cultural fabric that makes up our community
The festival is an attempt to bring the people of the Greater Toronto Area together by bridging the community gap and celebrating diversity through Afro-Caribbean art, dance, music and food. The goal of the Scarborough Afro-Caribbean Event is to recreate the festive traditions of the African and Caribbean cultures. In addition, there will be live concerts, children’s play area, and many other fun and exciting activities. Rain or shine, please come and experience the spectrum of diversity as represented by our many vendors, and of course, our great performers that will be headlining this year’s festival, along with many other supporting groups of talented individuals. This festival promises to attract thousands and will also be great networking, capacity building, and community development event. The event is open to ALL ages!
