Saturday March 3rd – The Maple Leafs Sports Entertainment partnered with Ghanalinx Media Group to host the first annual Ghana Heritage Night at the BMO Fields.

This took place at the home opener of the defending Major League Soccer (MLS) champions TorontoFC 2018 season. The first game of the season was against Columbus Crew who had some notable Ghanaian internationals like Harrison Afful, Jonathan Mensah and Lalas Abubakar.

12 Ghanaian youths participated as flag bearers during the opening ceremony and section seats in the stadium were allocated to the Ghanaian community at a discount price.

After a hard fought game, TorontoFC lost to Columbus 2-0. The Ghanaian supporters and fans waited after the game to meet with some of the Ghanaian players on the Columbus team for a meet and greet.

The Ghana Heritage Night event was lead by Mr Gabe Odartei, the CEO of Ghanalinx Media Group in collaboration with the Ghanaian-Canadian Soccer league.
